Get Published on Apple – Create and Upload a Distribution Certificate

Start your Apple app store submission by learning how to create your distribution certificate.

It's more than an app.
It's the key to a successful business.

Let’s get started publishing our app to the Apple app store! The next step after creating your Apple developer account is to create an Apple distribution certificate. In this lesson we’ll learn how to use Como and the Apple Developer website together, in order to get this done.

First, we’ll start at the Apple Developer Console. You’ll want to click, Certificates, Identifiers, and Profiles. Next, we’ll click, Certificates under IOS Apps. We’ll click the plus button in the upper right-hand corner to create a new certificate. When selecting a type, we want to use App Store and Ad Hoc, under Production, scroll down to the bottom and click, Continue.

Next, we’ll want to create our CSR file so click, Continue. Now here we need to upload our CSR file, and you can find that on Como. If you go to the To Market tab on the left side, make sure you click the IOS tab on the top, and you’ll come to instructions for publishing to the app store. In our case here we want to click the Next button to get to our distribution certificate. You’ll find the Download File button, and you want to download a file that ends in .CSR. Once you’ve done that, you need to go back to the Apple Developer Console, choose that file from your hard drive, and click, Generate. Apple just generated your certificate for you. Now you need to download again, get a new file—a .CER file, go back to Como, and at the bottom of the page click, Upload File, and we’ve got ios_distribution.cer—that’s the file we want. So we’ll upload that, and then we’ll click, Create app ID.

In the next step of the process for getting your Apple app published, we’ll be learning how to create our app ID.
